Sometimes group programs can offer benefits that individual therapy cannot.  We offer a wide range of group programs to address many different needs.

 

Social Language Groups  more

Our most popular group program!  We have several groups for children of all ages.  The main goal of our social language groups is to teach children how to appropriately interact with their peers.  Asking and answering questions, reading body language, and starting, maintaining and ending meaningful conversations, are just a few of the critical skills worked on in these groups.

Comprehensive, individualized care with a family focus

“JumpStarters” Early Language Intervention Group  more

This fun, interactive group, led by a Speech-Language Pathologist, teaches parents how to best stimulate their child’s language development.  Designed for children who are meeting most developmental milestones, but have delayed speech and language relative to others his/her age.  Parents and toddlers (18-36 months) attend together, and learn fun and proven techniques to develop communication skills.  Parent education and functional activities for the home are emphasized. 

 

“Snack Pack” and “The Lunch Bunch”  more

Snack time, lunch and recess are supposed to be fun.  However, for some children, these are the most stressful times of the day.  Children who have difficulty socializing may exhibit frustration, anxiety or impulsive behavior as they struggle to appropriately engage, play and share with other children.  These two innovative groups specifically emphasize the development of social language skills in these unstructured environments… which is critical for success in school, play, and everyday life. 

 

“Dad’s Sensory Saturdays”  more

An exciting, unique group for children with sensory impairments and their Dads! In this group, fathers (or other males) will learn about play and other activities that can be carried over into the home….and have fun while doing it!  Each week, the group will include education, activities and play focused on a different aspect of sensory-integration.

 

Instrumental Enrichment Groups  more

Led by a Psychologist trained in Feuerstein’s Instrumental Enrichment, this group uses this proven systematic approach to improve learning skills, critical thinking, peer interaction, and problem-solving.

 

Music Therapy Groups

Children in our music therapy groups work on improving social, communication, and motor skills through the planned use of music.  Why use music to improve these skills?  Music grabs and holds attention, supports and encourages movement, and provides structure.  Songs can give a meaningful, enjoyable context for repetition.  Instrument playing experiences create a multisensory context for social interaction. Music is a powerful tool for learning, and it’s fun!

 

Handwriting without Tears Groups  more

Handwriting Without Tears is a simple, developmentally based curriculum for writing readiness, printing and cursive. The program consists of is a multi-sensory approach to writing that is suitable for children with avariety of learning styles - visual, auditory, tactile, and kinesthetic. 

 

Fun with Food more

The goal of this feeding group is to expand a child’s diet repertoire using sensory exploration, oral motor activities, and play.  Fun with Food can benefit the child who resists trying new foods, gags or vomits at exposure to certain foods, expresses anxiety around mealtime, or has a very limited diet.

 

“Communication Station” AAC Social Group  more

In Communication Station, children who are augmentative & alternative communication users develop their social skills.  Children will learn to use their device to supplement their social communication.
