Comprehensive, individualized care with a family focus

Interactive Metronome (IM) is a computer-based training program shown to improve attention, coordination, and timing in children with a wide range of cognitive and physical difficulties, including Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.  Research indicates that IM is an effective clinical tool to improve focus and attention, overall coordination, and language processing. Typically, the program involves 15 one-hour sessions over a 5- week period.  A pre-training process is often necessary to prepare the child for the actual program.  As a child listens to a metronome beat through headphones, he repeatedly performs various hand and foot exercises.  Research clearly shows that the brain learns best through repetition of precise activities.  With IM, the brain is trained to plan, sequence and process information effectively. Pre-testing and careful history taking by a certified IM provider at Building Bridges Therapy Center will provide information to help parents determine if this is an appropriate technique for their child. A child should be at least 6 years of age to complete the program successfully.
