The primary goal of the Bridge Kindergarten program at Building Bridges Therapy Center is to provide a bridge between the special education programs offered to language-impaired children through the Pre-Primary Impaired classrooms of the public schools and the mainstreamed classroom for which they will be eligible. We aim to provide a strong academic foundation and language-enriched program to enable your children to compete with their typical peers in the classroom the following year. · A small group setting with an excellent teacher/child ratio (5 children-1 teacher) · A homogenous student population with similar receptive language skills and behavioral profiles · Weekly, in-class language therapy conducted by a certified speech pathologist · In-class Sensory-Integration consultations · Priority scheduling for optional individual Speech therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Music Therapy · An integrated approach to treatment in which teacher, therapists, and parents can share knowledge and insights about each child · Field trips to enhance learning through experience
This program is a kindergarten-level program, however, we cannot guarantee what placement your particular school districts will recommend for your children the following school year. For your information: · The kindergarten will be in session for approximately 36 weeks. · Morning classes will be in session from 8:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. · Afternoon classes will be in session from 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. · We will follow a traditional public school calendar and will notify you of scheduled holidays. · Children will have a 15-minute snack-time each day. Children will receive report cards and have two parent conferences during the school year. · Children will be pre- and post-tested per the Test for Auditory Comprehension of Language-3 by a certified Speech Pathologist. |
